I hope y'all are doing well!

Its been a hot minute so here's an update:

Animations

• I've got a huge animation in work. Like huge huge. The current working title is 'Threads and Needles' and it will be a surreal almost dreamscape-esque animation. The super-basic storyboard has been completed, and I've started fleshing out the first few sequences. It will be my biggest project by a longshot and I don't have an estimated completion date at the moment, but I'd guess maybe the end of the year or so as an early ballpark. When I am nearing the end of the project, I will be sure to drop a teaser for y'all ;)

Illustrations

• In the meantime, I have a new goal for this year - fill up all 110 pages of my artbook with finished illustrations! I currently have about 20 or so pages full, so I will be finishing up the remaining ~90ish pages by the end of the year. I plan to make digital renditions of some of the designs and post them here, but I am not sure about posting the non-coloured penwork on the portal or not. Anyways, I'm really excited about this and feel that my art skills have taken a huge leap forward in the last quarter of 2022.

An Upgrade

• Finally I am looking to upgrade my shoddy mouse setup to a drawing tablet in the coming weeks. I would say its about time as the mouse is becoming really frustrating to animate and draw with as of late... I am hoping this new setup will streamline the animation process and let me create more detailed works :)

I also wanted to throw a super special thanks to all those that provide feedback on the work I make (whether through comments or messages). Good critical feedback is worth its weight in gold to me and is instrumental in helping me improve my artwork.

Power to all the amazing artists on this site - I've seen so many unique styles and creative ideas in the last year through this site, it blows my mind and inspires me to double down on my own work.

Sidenote - As for that deep-sea project that I mentioned in the first news post: It was sidelined a while back, but I do plan to revisit it sometime in the future once the story is more cohesive and fleshed out. Until then, my focus in animation will be mostly on Threads and Needles.

I’m a little over a year into animation and absolutely in love with it! I’ve got two animation projects I’m working on at the moment: one being clip for a reanimated collaboration and the other being a personal deep-sea related project. In the meantime, I will probably continue sporadically making illustrations and maybe some really small animations on the side.

Huge thanks for the feedback on Dog Days, I’m surprised the response was so positive. I was also planning on a counter-animation coming near the end of the year: same style - but in winter, so stay tuned.
